'The Boss' Pose-to-Pose Animation

The lead up to this project was dominated by hours of cartoon examination and study. I must have viewed over a dozen cartoons from the 1930s - 1960s alone, such as Disney's Cinderella, The Seven Dwarfs and Fantasia, to name a few.

All elements were built in Illustrator before being imported into Flash. The soundtrack was assembled in Soundtrack Pro.

Character Animation

More cartoons were studied for this project than I care to admit. I play guitar so I thought it would be great to animate an instrument and give it a personality. I love rock music so a rocking-out guitar was the only choice...

All elements were built in Illustrator before being imported into Flash for keyframe-by-keyframe animation.

walk cycleWalk Cycle Animation

Stick-figure walk cycles were poured over for this project. A story was essential so I had my character interact with my other Flash projects as he strode along the storyline (you may recognise some of the elements if you've already viewed my other projects).

Inspiration for this character came from the hilarious Don Hertzfeldt animation, Rejected. I composed the soundtrack and played guitar on the track using Soundtrack Pro.

This was the banner that paid the highest tribute to the TV series, Lost in Space. The soundtrack was added to give the banner to complete the theme.

The final banner has the UFO-abducted students returning to Earth. The original idea was to have the saucer flying through the clouds of Earth but the end file size was too prohibitive for the banner to be commercially viable.
