The Boss Design Process
Concept
I once worked for someone who had quite a temper. He would pound his desk as he yelled at you and the vains in his forehead would bulge to such an extent that you would wait for blood vessels to burst! I decided to pay homage and imortalise my ex-boss in a cartoon.
The character was loosely traced from a Mike Lynch cartoon, then the image was scanned before breaking down the individual components such as arms, legs, face and desk.

Colour and Fonts
After studying cartoons to get a feel for colours and typefaces used, I stuck with traditional 1960s colour schemes that were found in almost every cartoon of the time. Various typefaces were also investigated and the face you see below was finally settled on. The typeface had to be playful and whacky and I think this was achieved.

Scenes & Content
I wanted to set the scene by showing the viewer the Boss' office tower sitting amongst lowly-looking buildings. The viewer is then taken high up into the tower and through the window. The different segments on screen help set the pace as well as retain the title throughout the 'movie'.

Putting it together
Once drawn, the 'Boss' was scanned and pulled apart, limb by limb. Each limb was then placed on the Flash timeline and animated frame-by-frame. Other components such as the desk and the chairs were also dealt with in this way.
